We built PackOS because merchants deserve to know the truth about their shipping

Most merchants know their product margins down to the penny. They track ad spend, COGS, and refund rates obsessively. But shipping? That's usually a black box. They know roughly what labels cost. They have a sense of what customers pay at checkout. But the delta — the real margin on every shipment — is the number most merchants have never seen.

That's not because merchants don't care. It's because no tool makes it easy. Most shipping platforms are label purchasing tools — they see the label cost, but they weren't present at checkout. They can't tell you what the customer paid without you importing historical data and hoping the column mapping works.

We built PackOS to fix that. The key insight: if you put a shipping calculator at checkout — one that uses your actual box dimensions to generate real carrier rates — you're capturing the checkout quote on every order. Then, when the merchant buys the label, you have both numbers. The math is simple. The visibility it creates is transformative.

PackOS started as a Shopify app for accurate checkout shipping rates. We found that merchants who installed it immediately started asking: “Wait, so what am I actually making on shipping?” We built the answer to that question. That answer is now the core of what PackOS does.

Our principles

• Transparency first — merchants should always know exactly what their shipping costs. We never obscure costs.
• Merchants should understand their costs — every feature we build gives merchants more visibility, not less.
• Simple is hard — we would rather do fewer things and do them excellently than build 100 half-baked features.
• The data belongs to you — export everything. Cancel any time. Your order history is yours.
